STEEPLEBUSH
Spiraea tomentosa
REMEMBER: It is an offence to pick wildflowers in any provincial park.

Steeplebush, also known as Meadowsweet or Hardhack, is an erect shrub. A member of the Rose family, you can find it blooming form July to September in fields and moist meadows throughout the Algonquin Highlands.

Its pink flower is steeple-shaped (hence its common name), and has 5 sepals,
5 petals, and numerous stamens. They grow in branched clusters. Its leaves are oblong, about 2-5 cm long, alternate and toothed. Unlike any other spirea, the Steeplebush’s twigs and leaf undersides are woolly. It grows to a height of 60 to 120 cm.
