TALL MEADOW RUE
Thalictrum pubescens
REMEMBER: It is an offence to pick wildflowers in any provincial park.

Tall Meadow Rue is a member of the Buttercup family. This pretty white flower has no petals! But it has 4 to 5 sepals, and plume-like stamens the appear like a flower. It grows to  heights from 50 to 250 cm, during July through August in the Algonquin Highlands.

Its bluish- to olive-green coloured leaves alternate up the tall stem. They are 3-lobed and are rounded to oblong, appearing as finely divided leaves. They were once used as tobacco, and the smoke was thought to cure deafness.

These Meadow Rue are found in wetland areas, including lake and river edges and swamp regions.
