BUNCHBERRY DOGWOOD
Cornus canadensis

Bunchberry Dogwood also known as Bunchberry, Dwarf Dogwood, Canadian Bunchberry, Dogwood Bunchberry, Crackerberries, Dwarf Cornel, and even Pigeonberry. This perennial is a member of the Dogwood family.

Its flower is actually a small, greenish cluster of blossoms, surrounded by 4 white, petal-like bracts. it blooms in June-July, in shaded, wooded areas of the forest. Its elliptic leaves alternate along the stem, usually with 4 to 6 leaves, growing to a height of only 10 to 20 cm. It bears red fruit in the late summer, the size of small peas, and are an important source for wildlife. They spread by rhizomes, grow in dense masses.
