A member of the Guttiferae family, St. John's Wort has been best known as a herbal remedy since the Middle Ages. This bushy perennial grows to heights up to 75 cm, with yellow, 5-petaled flowers. The flowers have bushy stamen and black dots on the edge of the petals. You will find them blooming in the Algonquin Highlands from June to September, in open fields and along roadsides.
It has oval leaves up to 5 cm long, have many small, clear dots, and grow on an erect stem which has two ridges running up its length.
