Pearly Everlasting, also known as American Everlasting and Cudweed, is a member of the Sunflower family. It is aptly named as its round white flowers and seed clusters resemble pearls. This flower when dried, retains its colour and texture, giving the ‘everlasting’ portion of its name.

This perennial has a flower head consisting of many tiny white flowers They are on the end of a 30-90 cm tall green, leafy stalk. The stems are erect, and covered with white hairs. You might find these pretty blossom in the Algonquin Highlands from July to early September in open fields and roadsides.

This plant’s deep roots help it to survive the winter. Its nectar is a food source for many insects and butterflies.
