OX-EYE DAISY
Chrysanthemum leucanthemum
REMEMBER: It is an offence to pick wildflowers in any provincial park.
Ox-eye Daisy is also known as White Daisy, White Weed, Field Daisy, and Dog Daisy. This perennial was introduced from Europe. Its name means “a token”.

During its first year of growth, it produces a rosette of leaves. In its second year it produces the stem and flowers. This pretty flower has white ray florets (about 1-2 cm long) with yellow disc florets (about 2-5cmwide) in the centre. It grows to a height ranging from 30 to 100 cm, with alternating, dark green leaves that are smooth, shiny and lobed. You will find the Ox-eyed Daisy in open fields and meadows and along roadsides.
