The Hedgehog Fungus, also known as Sweet Tooth, has a 2-17 cm convex, wavy cap with a central depression. The cap is commonly coloured orange-tan or paler, and has a dry, fairly smooth texture. Its underside is unique, as it has spines or "teeth" measuring 2-7 mm long. The whitish or orange-tan stem measures 3-10 cm high and 1-3 cm in thickness. It may appear off-center, with a dry smooth texture. Bruising is indicated by a brown colouring. The Hedgehog Fungus habits hardwoods or conifers in clusters or singly.
