Artist’s Conch be found just about any time of year in the Algonquin Highlands growing on dead or dying hardwoods. This perennial grows up to 50 cm long by 30 cm wide, adding new layers of pores every year. It is white on the underside and grey-brown to dark brown with white pores on top. It has a hard exterior, and bracket-form shape. As the name indicates through touching the white spores that occur during the rainy season, you can stain the top a reddish-brown.
