The Salmon Nolanea name is easy to understand when you view the salmon colour of this mushroom. Its 2-4 cm wide, bell or peaked cap is brilliant orange or salmon coloured, with pink spores. It is also nicknamed the “Unicorn Mushroom”. The stalk measures approximately 8 cm tall by 4 mm in diameter and may have a greenish tinge colour. Fruiting on the ground, the Salmon Nolanea prefers habitats of leaf or moss covered ground in conifer woods. It is prevalent during Summer and Fall.
