Rooting Agaric, also known as Redhead or Rooting Collybia has a 3-15 cm wide, wrinkled, convex cap that appears greyish brown. The spaced out, broad gills are identifiable from their chalk white colour. The long, slender but brittle stalks are 25 cm high by 1.5 cm wide. The Rooting Agaric in easily found and fruits in the company of aged stumps.
