POISON PAXILLUS

The Poison Paxillus has a convex cap, measuring 6-20 cm, and is covered with fine hairs. It is reddish-brown or brown, but will bruise darker when handled. The yellowish, cinnamon, pale or olive-coloured gills run down its stem, that measures 3-9 cm high and 2.5-5 cm thick. The Poison Paxillus fruits in late Summer and Fall, preferring mixed hardwood and conifers.
