The Parrot Mushroom, also known as Parrot Waxy Cap, has a waxy or slimy, dark green cap that is convex to bell-shaped. It measures from 1.5 to 4 cm. Depending on its age, the cap could also be yellow, orange, pink, or yellow. Its stem measures 3-7 cm high and 2-5 mm thick. It also coloured green. Its gills, attached to the stem, are thick and waxy, and can be light green, red or even yellowish. The Parrot Mushroom can be found scattered or in clusters, and prefers a mixed habitat of coniferous and deciduous woods. It is found damp soils, moss, humus, embankments or roadsides and is prevalent in Spring through Fall.
