FLY AGARIC
Amanita muscaria
WARNING: This web site does NOT identify if a mushroom as edible or not.
Please consult an expert PRIOR to consuming ANY wild mushroom or fungus..
The Fly Agaric is something you would expect to see on a “Alice in Wonderland” movie, with its 5-30 cm bright red, fading to orange, convex top and white warts. It is also known as Christmas Mushroom and Sacred Mushroom. The shaggy stem is distinct in that it has a white skirt like outstanding rim just under the dome. The Fly Agaric is normally found under conifers and hardwood treed areas, growing to heights of 30 cm.
