DELICIOUS MILK MUSHROOM
(ORANGE MILK MUSHROOM)

Lactarius deliciosus
WARNING: This web site does NOT identify if a mushroom as edible or not.
Please consult an expert PRIOR to consuming ANY wild mushroom or fungus..
The Delicious Milk Mushroom has a convex orange cap with a depressed center and measures 4-15 cm. The ‘milk’ this mushroom emits is orange in colour. It is 2-7 cm high and has a 1-2 cm thick, though sometimes hollow, stem. It bruises easily, turning a green colour. The gills run down the stem, are orange or yellow and, with age, become entirely green. The Delicious Milk Mushroom prefers conifers and is prevalent in Summer and Fall.
