The Chanterelle grows to widths of 2-10 cm, with a convex or flat top, and ranges in colours from yellow to an orange mixture. It has forked or folded ridges. The stalks may to be 6 cm tall and 2 cm in diameter, and is commonly confused with the False Chanterelle. Fruiting may occur in late Summer or Fall, with a preference for coniferous treed areas. It has a symbiotic association with the roots of the tree, helping it grow, while receiving nutrients in return.
