Please consult an expert PRIOR to consuming ANY wild mushroom or fungus..
The Scarlet Cup, normally found in clusters, is a cup-shaped fungus, usually up to 5cm in diameter and red to scarlet in colour. The stalks are white-pinkish and measure 3 cm high. The white powder on the inner surface is actually the spore. The white on the edge of the cup is from tiny hairs. This mushroom fruits in March - April on hardwood sticks and small branches.
