Cock’s-comb Coral, also known as Crested Coral, gives a false impression that you are under the ocean with its marbled appearance. Its distinctiveness is its flattened, multi-toothed branch tips. Usually white or creamy in colour, it can appear in grey or black, an indication of it being attacked by other fungi species. It may turn yellowish with natural age. Found to grow on the ground in hardwood and conifer woods, Cock’s-comb Coral reaches sizes of 3-7 cm in height, and 2-4 cm broad, with a preferred habitat of underneath pine trees.
