The White Sucker prefers warm shallow lakes, streams and reservoirs. It is a durable fish, able to inhabit areas other fish could not survive in. This fish has a grey- brown-black mixture on its back, with a white belly, and a cylindrical shape. It commonly weighs 0.5 - 1.0 kg and has a length up to 50 cm. As a bottom feeder, the diet of the White Sucker consists of worms, clams, and fish eggs. Spawning occurs at the end of Winter in rivers and streams. It is a common victim to Muskellunge, Northern Pike, and Walleye. This fish is not favoured for consumption by anglers, but does provide a commercial fishing value, usually under the name mullet.
