The Deepwater Sculpin, an endangered species, has no scales. However, for protection it does have prickles on its topside. It grows to an average of 5-13 cm in length. The decline in this fish is suspected to be in relation to the decline in other fish it feeds upon plus the introduction of new predators to its traditional areas. A deep dweller of cool waters, this fish is identifiable from its two spines and two distinct dorsal fins, with a grayish-brown, pointed body shape.
