The Northern Pike, also known as Jack, inhabits cooler ponds, rivers, and lakes with a preference for the high vegetated, weeded areas. Its long, dark green body reaches lengths of 45 100 cm. It has yellow coloured spots, rounded tail fins and, of course, its sharp teeth. These characteristics makes the Northern Pike stand out. This predator has a diet of frogs, small fish, crayfish and small birds. The Northern Pike normally reach weights of 6-9 kg. Spawning occurs in April-May in shallow marshes with the eggs adhering to vegetation.
