Logperch, a member of the Perch family, is at home in warm streams and rivers, lakes, places with gravel and stones. Its elongated body measures only 7 to 12 cm at maturity. Easy to identify by its long snout that is blunt at the tip, a pale-yellow body with darker, vertical, tiger-like markings on its sides, plus a black spot at the base of the tail fin.
Spawning occurs from April to May, burying their eggs in sand or gravel. The male lies beside the female and releases his sperm to fertilize the eggs. They flip stones over with their snout to obtain food.
