LARGEMOUTH BASS
Micropterus salmoides
The Largemouth Bass, a member of the Sunfish family, enjoys warmer waters and plentiful vegetation compared to other fish. This Bass, with an average size of 1.3 to 2.3 kg, has a large variety in its diet, consisting of a assortment of fish, frogs, crayfish, and insects. This fish can be identified from the black sideways band, greenish colour and, of course, its large mouth, as its name describes. With spawning occurring in Spring to mid-Summer, nests are built utilizing overhead cover or in gravel and sand, with the male protector watching over it. The life expectancy can reach 16 years.
