Pink-edged Sulphurs are medium-sized, wing span of 3.5-4.4 cm. As its name implies, the rounded wings have a bright pink edge and a black border. The upperside is bright yellow, with a black spot on the forewing. The spot on the hind wing is usually orange. The underside of its wings also have a spot, but silvery in colour.
In Algonquin Highlands from early June-August, you will find the slow-flying Pink-edged Sulphur in wooded areas, scrubby openings or clearings, near marshes or bogs, as this butterfly lays its pitcher-shaped eggs singly on Blueberry plants. Producing only one brood per year, the caterpillar is bright yellow-green with stripes of red surrounded by blue.
